Support Family Voices on Colorado Gives Day, December 4

Colorado Gives Day logoOn Tuesday, December 4, 2012, Coloradans will come together again to raise millions of dollars for nonprofits like ours. Last year, a remarkable $12.8 million was distributed to Colorado nonprofits. Family Voices received more than $5,000 from our clients, partners, friends, and other generous donors last year, and we are so grateful for your support!

You can donate to us through GivingFirst.org/FamilyVoicesCO at any time, and 100 percent of your donation will come to us. But when you give online on December 4, the value of your donation is increased by the FirstBank Incentive Fund. This year, our goal is to double the amount we raised on Colorado Gives Day 2011, so we’ll need everyone’s help to reach that milestone!Two girls at our 2009 Going to Bat for Kids event

You may already have a sense of the many different ways we are working to improve health care quality and access for children and youth with special health care needs. But over the next three weeks, we’ll share a couple of family stories so you know exactly the kind of difference we can make in families’ lives when you invest in Family Voices Colorado. Dear Partners, Friends, and Supporters,

We have had a summer of change and transition here at Family Voices Colorado. The biggest change, which most of you already know about, is that Christy Blakely retired as Executive Director at the end of May, after 12 years of dedicated service and passionate advocacy on behalf of children with special health care needs. The Board appointed me to be the new Executive Director, effective June 28.

I am deeply committed to the mission of Family Voices, and I believe my background leading health and human services agencies has prepared me well for the particular opportunities and challenges we face right now. Over the past three months, I have met with dozens of partner agencies and professionals across the health care and disability fields to deepen my understanding of the landscape of the field, and to develop a vision for Family Voices’ unique niche in the rapidly changing health care arena in our state. I look forward to sharing that vision with you in the coming months.

In addition to the executive transition, we have had several staff change roles or move on to other opportunities in the past few months. A complete listing of current staff is below for your reference, and you can find contact information for our new office space here.

As always, we remain absolutely committed to our mission of improving access to and quality of health care systems for children and youth with special health care needs. We’re moving!

After three and a half years with The Partnership for Families and Children (The Partnership), Family Voices Colorado is moving to new office spaceat The Anschutz Medical Campus, near the University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Our new address, as of September 10, 2012, is:

Our main phone and fax numbers, as well as email addresses, remain the same. This Friday, September 7, our phones will be down as we transfer the system. You can email staff directly, or info@familyvoicesco.org if you need urgent assistance on Friday.

The move itself will take place September 10 – 14, so we will have limited staff availability that week to respond to calls and emails, but we will do our best to reply in a timely manner. We will be fully operational at the new location by Monday, September 17.

The reason for our move is that The Partnership is selling the building at 450 Lincoln Street. We will now be leasing space from CPC Clinical Research (CPC), an academic research organization that is dedicated to improving health through clinical research and integrating evidence into community prevention programs. We trust that this connection with CPC will be as fruitful as our collaboration with The Partnership has been.

We will be sending out our Fall Newsletter in a couple weeks, which will include information on an Open House later this month and updates on all the changes we’ve been through this summer.  In the meantime, “Like” us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or make sure you are signed up for our email list to stay connected.
